FOR PARENTS & GUARDIANS

The answers parents need.

Who can connect with your child, what verification means, and the choices you can make together.

01 / CONNECTIONS

Who can find or connect with my child?

People may find a Peek account through contact matching, friend connections, a shared profile link, or school discovery. A connection request is not proof that someone knows your child.

In the current app, access to school polls and the school friend list requires verification. Turning off your child’s contact access does not make their account undiscoverable through every other route.

02 / SCHOOL VERIFICATION

What does school verification actually check?

School features require verification. Selecting a school alone does not open its polls or friend list. Verification uses an approved school email or a student ID where supported.

Email verification confirms access to an accepted school email account. A student ID provides school evidence for review. These checks do not guarantee someone’s age or identity in every case. Grade is self-reported.

A student ID photo is checked by an automated reviewer and stored encrypted for up to 14 days for review, then deleted. Peek keeps the result of the review, not the photo.

03 / CONTACT CHOICES

What changes if we decline contact access?

Contacts access is optional. Your child can decline it during sign-up. Contact-based friend matching and some contact-based picks will then be unavailable; access can be changed later in the phone’s settings.

By default, contact names and numbers stay on the phone and only short fragments of scrambled numbers are sent to Peek. Some versions of the app ask for separate agreement before uploading encrypted names and numbers, which are kept for up to 30 days. Other members never see your child’s contacts.

Other discovery routes, such as existing connections and shared profiles, are separate. Revoking permission does not itself erase contacts uploaded by earlier app versions.

04 / HINTS & REVEALS

Can someone find out who sent a Pick?

Senders can be revealed. Hints and eligible reveal features may disclose information about who sent a Pick, including their identity. The options depend on the Pick, account, and feature shown in the app.

Some options use earned Stars; others require a purchase. Encourage your child to send compliments they would be comfortable standing behind if their name were revealed.

05 / PURCHASES

What can cost money?

Some features are paid. Peek has three optional weekly subscriptions: PASS, Premium, and VIP. Offers can differ by platform and account. Members without a subscription see a small banner ad on their profile screen.

The purchase screen should be checked for price, included features, limits, and renewal terms. Manage subscriptions through the Apple or Google account used to buy them. Deleting the app or account does not cancel a subscription.

06 / USING PEEK

What does my child do on Peek?

Peek is for people aged 13 and over. Friends answer positive questions by choosing someone the question reminds them of. That choice becomes a compliment in the recipient’s Pick Box.

A Pick for someone who has not joined is kept for up to 30 days and delivered only if that person joins and verifies their number. It never sends an invitation text by itself. Your child can send an invitation from their own phone, or directly ask Peek to send one from Peek’s number; that text names your child and can be stopped by replying STOP.

07 / CHAT

Can my child chat on Peek?

Yes, with friends. Members can chat by real name with people they follow, one to one or in small groups. If the other person does not follow them back, the chat starts as a request that person can ignore.

Messages are checked by automated review after they are sent and hidden if they break the rules. Blocking a person stops new messages in both directions, and any chat can be reported.

08 / DELETING THE ACCOUNT

How do we delete the account?

In the app, open Settings and choose Delete Account. The account is deactivated right away and permanently deleted after 5 days. Signing in during those 5 days restores it.

After deletion, Peek keeps anonymized usage statistics for 120 days and a scrambled phone fingerprint for one year to prevent reward abuse. If your child no longer has the phone, email support with the phone number on the account.

09 / GETTING HELP

What if an interaction makes my child uncomfortable?

Open the person’s profile, tap the three-dot menu, and choose Report User or Block User. A received Pick can be reported from its detail screen using Report Pick. Reporting and blocking are separate actions.

Reporting a received Pick hides it from the person who reported it. Review does not automatically mean content removal or an account penalty. If an option is unavailable, contact support with the username or link and a short explanation.

If someone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted adult first.
